Who was the more dominating QB Otto Graham or Joe Montana?
It's closer than people think, but I'd say Montana. The only way to compare quarterbacks is to compare how they played in their era. Montana was without question the best quarterback in the NFL during the 80s, I mean he won 4 super bowls in that decade alone. Graham gets props from old school fans because he led his team to the championship game all 10 years he played "pro" football. But Graham played 4 years in the inferior AAFC league where he won the championship every year. In the NFL he won 3 out of 6 championship games, which is certainly impressive in itself. But, he had easily the best supporting cast of anyone in the game at that time, and he lost two of those championships to Bobby Layne, who was able to beat the Browns despite far less talented teams. So I think its fair to argue that Bobby Layne is better than Graham in his era. And because of that I think Montana is better.
